My Favorite Kathy Bates Movie
Today is Kathy Bates’ birthday. Bates is a well-know American actress and director. She has performed in various roles, from comedic to dramatic, on the big screen and on television. So in honor of her birthday, I wanted to share what my favorite Kathy Bates movie is!
Kathy Bates’ Life
Throughout her life and career, she has won many awards for her acting. This includes an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and more, according to IMDb.
Bates is originally from Memphis, Tennessee and attended Southern Methodist University before moving to New York to pursue acting. Like most budding actresses, Bates had to work many odd jobs and take small acting gigs while trying to make it big.
Kathy Bates Movies
In all honesty, I haven’t seen all of her movies. But I’m also horrible at remembering movie storylines, and which actors and actresses were in them. Until I started looking at Kathy Bates’ bio, I totally forgot about her being in The Waterboy and Titanic! Apparently, her breakout role was in the 1990 horror film, Misery. This is one I have not seen.
But, her film in 1991 is definitely one of my favorites! In fact, my sisters and I watched it a bunch growing up, and would often quote lines from the movie. And, to top it off, one of the locations in the film was actually not too far from my hometown. Do you know the film?
Favorite Movie
It’s Fried Green Tomatoes! She played the role of Evelyn Couch. According to Coming Soon, this is the role most people associate with her. In the film, she volunteers at the nursing home and meets Ninny, who tells her many stories about life and love.
The Whistle Stop Café is located in Juliette, Georgia. I’ve been there a couple of times! It’s always really neat to me when I can visit places I’ve seen in the movies, or if I recognize places I’ve been when watching a movie!
It’s been YEARS since I’ve seen Fried Green Tomatoes, but I suddenly have the urge to re-watch it!
Enjoy a couple of clips from my favorite Kathy Bates movie!
Anyone else remember TAWANDA?!
And even though this scene doesn’t have Kathy Bates in it, it’s probably one of the funniest!
And one of my favorite lines!
