The shop is owned by Cynthia Rudisill and her husband Dick Rudisill. After a career of working in the food and grocery industry in New York, the Syracuse couple moved down South. They drove through Aiken one day, and the rest was
history.
The couple chose the name “Cyndi’s Sweet Shoppe” by combining the first three letters of Cindy’s proper name, Cynthia, and the first two letters of Dick’s.
Unfortunately, they were informed by the landlord that they would not be able to renew there release to their beloved small business.
While they are not sure what will become of the location next, they are thinking possible a restaurant will be next in line to takeover.
They have looked into other spaces to rent in the Downtown Aiken location but for a small candy shop business, the rent is a bit much.
"I have many wonderful memories from the time we opened the store to now as we end. The people I have met, that I now call friends, the small children that are in college or finished, my regulars, the people that keep coming back year after year, and so many more. Someone may have only come only one time but, put a smile on my face and in my heart."
The shop serves over 1000 treats like the widest variety of bulk candy, chocolates, pralines, and fudges. They even serve ice cream and floats.
Cyndi's Sweet Shoppe lease ends on October 31, 2023. They will be closing in late September.
