In the last few years, Augusta has been in the top 10 unhappiest cities. I guess you could say we were in the bottom ten actually. Did we find ourselves there again? Or have we gotten a little happier? Let's check the list.
Are We Happy Or Not?
WalletHub releases this list every year. Here are some of the factors they look at when determining which cities are the happiest. Positive mental state, healthy body, strong social connections, job satisfaction, and financial well-being. They also looked at the depression rate, the income growth rate, and the average leisure time as well. So a lot of factors went into this list. Let me give you the top ten. These are the cities that are happiest.
The Top Ten Happiest Cities
- Fremont, California
- Overland Park, Kansas
- San Jose, California
- Madison, Wisconsin
- Irvine, California
- Honolulu, Hawaii

- Pearl City, Hawaii

No Southern cities in the top ten! You're telling me that many people are that happy in California? I don't know, it seems like things are a little nuts in Cali right now. Well since there weren't any Southern cities in the top ten, I'll show you where some of them landed on the list.

Where Was Augusta?
Hey! We weren't in the bottom ten this year! So where was Augusta on the list? Out of 182 cities listed, we were 171. But we weren't in the bottom ten like we have been! Apparently, we're getting happier in Augusta! Personally, I don't think people are any less happy here than they are in other parts of the country. I feel like we're all dealing with the same struggles all over the country.

Speaking of happy and unhappy, here are some things that annoy us here in Augusta and the CSRA.
Our Biggest Pet Peeves In Augusta
So what are our biggest pet peeves here in Augusta? We all have at least one. Well, odds are you have more than one, but there's always one that you consider your biggest one. Just as we normally do, we decided to ask you. Your phone calls and Facebook comments were excellent as usual.
Our conversation started when I said my biggest pet peeve was when people don't put their buggies back in the proper place at the store. You see it almost every day! People will leave their buggies within ten feet of the buggy return. They'll leave them in the middle of the parking lot, and that just aggravates me like crazy.
Cody had a good one as well. When you're in a drive-thru, odds are it's somewhere you've been before, know what you want when it's time to order. At Chick-fil-A for example, you know what they've got, their menu doesn't change very often, be ready when it's your turn to order! You're holding up the line!
As usual, y'all were pretty passionate about this topic. We got everything from being prepared in the car drop-off line at school to just letting your kid throw a temper tantrum for 15 minutes in a store or restaurant. If you want to check out all of the Facebook comments we got, you can see them all here.

These are some of our biggest pet peeves here in Augusta.
Chewing With Your Mouth Open

This was by far the most common pet peeve. C'mon y'all its not that hard right? Just close your mouth when you chew!
Driving Slow In The Fast Lane

This one is when you really need Jesus to keep you in check. I don't think there is a person alive who doesn't get upset when the person in the fast lane is going just as slow as the person in the slow lane!
Someone Using Speaker Phone In Public

We don't need, nor do we want to hear your conversation while we're walking down aisle 6 at Kroger. If you must use the phone in public, use it normally. Please and thank you!
People Who Don't Use Their Blinkers

They come free with the car! It doesn't cost anything to use your blinker!
Being Rude To Your Server At A Restaurant

It's really not that hard not to be a jerk. Most servers work very hard, and even if they're having a rough day, give them a little grace and understanding will ya.
