Golf For A Cause: Birdies On The Block
Turn Back the Block’s Youth Leadership Board is helping turn back the block, one block at a time – this time they are doing it by bringing the community together over something we are all familiar with in the CSRA, that’s golf.
Whether that’s just having heard of golf before or really knowing the game. The fundraiser will be in drive, chip, and putt style.
Drive, Chip, and Putt is a free nationwide junior golf development competition aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf. It is for aspiring junior golfers of girls and boys ages 7-15. It was founded in 2013 by the Masters Tournament, the United States Golf Association, and The PGA of America.

The event will take place at First Tee of Augusta at 6 pm. Tickets for the event can be found here.
Turn Back The Block is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help revitalize the Harrisburg neighborhood in Downtown Augusta and create a neighborhood where everyone would want to live. Turn Back the Block believes that home ownership is a catalyst for transition in the community and works block-to-block, creating affordable homeownership where vacant lots and once abandoned homes stood.
The organization was founded in 2010 and was originally known as the Fuller Center for Housing.
To date, they have established 9 homeowners, 7 newly constructed homes, 8 renovated homes, a centrally-located renovated office/warehouse, and maintain over 20 vacant lots.
The Turn Back The black organization often hosts Monthly Block Parties, Litter & Tire pick-ups, Community Events, and more for the community to get involved with.
The next Turn Back the Block Party – 10:00 am – 12:00 pm located at 1924 Battle Row.
