What goes into being the best burger in South Carolina or Georgia? There's a lot of good options throughout both states, so being named the best is quite an accomplishment.

Our friends over at Readers Digest took on the task of figuring out which of them were the absolute best.

"From coast to coast, burgers are one of America’s favorite foods," Jacqueline Weiss from Readers Digest said. "But the best burger isn’t always where you’d think to find it. Sometimes, it’s served out of a gas station or otherwise off the beaten path. Other times, it’s in a traditional restaurant."

All over the Southeast you can find some of the best food in the world. And we know good hamburgers around Augusta for sure.

As many of you know, I grew up in the restaurant business. My parents owned a few restaurants and burgers were our biggest sellers and that's still the case today at many places.

And a few months ago I laid out some of my favorite burgers here in Augusta, including those at French Market Grille West, Edgefield Pool Room, SnoCap in North Augusta and others.

But if we're looking for what others think the best of the best burger is in South Carolina or Georgia, we want to look to the experts. Here's the best from both of our states, as well as some others around the South, according to Readers Digest.
