BREAKING NEWS: Martinez Kroger Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19
The Augusta Chronicle is reporting that an employee at the Kroger on Columbia Road in Martinez has tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to the article from the Chronicle’s Jozsef Papp, the affected employee had not worked in seven days, and other employees who had been in close contact, had all been notified and instructed to self-quarantine for the CDC’s recommended fourteen days.
The article states that although the store remains open, it has undergone extensive cleaning, disinfecting & sanitization, in accordance with health guidelines.
The employee’s identity is unknown, but a corporate representative at Kroger tells the Chronicle that the employee has undergone treatment and is expected to recover.
As of 6:00 p.m. on May 5th, there are over 29,000 positive COVID-19 cases in the state of Georgia, of which 422 are in Richmond County, and 169 in Columbia County. [source: Georgia Department of Public Health]
