Georgia Students Will Temporarily Be Able To Get A License WITHOUT Having To Take A Driving Test
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to make life weird in ways that we never imagined…
Regardless of what side of the aisle you’re on, I think we can all agree that this is one of the craziest things that we’ve ever heard of (although it’s sure to save student drivers a TON of stress!)
According to article nine of an executive order from Governor Brian Kemp, student drivers will now be able to acquire their license without an on-the-road, supervised driving test. They’ll simply need a signed permission slip from their parents–but, they WILL still be required to have forty documented hours of supervised driving.
Stormi Kenney owns a driving school in Kennesaw, Georgia and told Atlanta’s Fox 5 News, “The Department of Driver Services is trying to make it as easy as a process for people to get their license and to lessen the burden on people right now.”
This executive order will remain in effect until the Public Health State of Emergency is lifted. Until then, I think I’ll stay off of the roads as much as possible–and out of the way of untested drivers.
You can read Governor Kemp’s entire executive order here.
