PLAYLIST: Top Five Best Rascal Flatts Songs That Were Never Hits (But Should Have Been)
Rascal Flatts take the virtual stage today for our Superstar Mini Concert series, and as a card carrying, annual due paying Rascal Flatts fan club member, this is the one I’ve been most looking forward to.
Obviously, this is a mini concert, so there’s no way that Rascal Flatts will be able to play even a handful of their hits, but whichever songs they do perform are sure to be amazing.
To celebrate today’s Superstar Mini Concert, I’ve compiled a list of the top ten best Rascal Flatts songs that were never hits–but should have been. These are mostly songs that were featured on Flatts’ albums but never released as singles.
#5. “Where You Are” (Track #1 from their 2004 album, Feels Like Today, which featured hits like “Fast Cars And Freedom,” and “Bless The Broken Road.” This was the song that they opened shows with on their 2005 tour and every time I hear it, it takes me back to that energy & excitement!)
#4. “Cool Thing” (originally from Flatts’ 2006 album, Me And My Gang, “Cool Thing” is a solid summer jam about a guy who falls in love with a girl on a parasail—leave it to Gary, Jay & Joe Don to turn something that simple into such a bop!)
3. “Love Who You Love” (The album Unstoppable featured hits like “Here Comes Goodbye” and “Summer Nights,” but “Love Who You Love” is a standout anthem and I wish it had been released as a single.)
2. “Changed” (Rascal Flatts have always been able to tread that area between country & Christian music, and “Changed” is one of the best examples. It’s my favorite track from their 2012 album of the same name.)
#1. “Winner At A Losing Game” (Not only my #1 song on this list, but tied with “I’m Movin’ On” as my all-time favorite Rascal Flatts song, “Winner At A Losing Game” is an incredibly well-written song with a lyrical twist that will knock the wind out of you. It also shows the guys’ more traditional country side.)
I doubt any of these songs will make the setlist for today’s Superstar Mini Concert series, but we’ll find out today (7/6), and you can listen to rewind performances from ALL previous mini concerts here.
