Add another store to their already 84,000 worldwide. The 7-Eleven convenience store chain, founded in 1927, is coming to Aiken County.

7-Eleven was founded in Dallas, Texas. Fun Fact: 7-Eleven introduced the Slurpee in 1966—also, the 32-ounce Big Gulp to get you sugared up for that long trip.

Aiken County

The Aiken County location is just off I-20 at Exit 22. The new store will have eight gas pump islands and five diesel pump islands for the truckers. The store will be about 4,500 square feet.

About all of the convenience stores now offer some hot food, like Sprint and the new Parker's Kitchens that are building in the area, and 7-Eleven is no different with their Raise the Roost Chicken and Biscuits in many of their stores.

Did you know? 7-Eleven was also the first convenience store to offer coffee in to-go cups and the first for a self-serve soda fountain. Also, the first convenience store to sell gas was, you guessed it, 7-Eleven.

One thing is certain: this area in Aiken County is poised for future growth. With the new Circle K, and the renovated Waffle House at this exit, plus the addition of the new 7-Eleven, it seems this will be the next exit in Aiken County that will look a lot different in a few years.

The exit is also home to a McDonald's, Bojangles, Hardee's, and a Dollar General store.

The Aiken County store probably won't be open for Free Slurpee Day this year, July 11, 2024, which is 7-11, but put it on your calendar for next year. They celebrate each year on the 11th of July. With many flavors, you'll find the best flavor for a brain freeze.

Fun Fact #2: 7-11 got its name by being open from 7 am to 11 pm, which was a big deal at the time. You'll be happy to know all 7-Elevens are now open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
